Toast Skagen is named after a fishing port at the northern tip of Denmark and is typically served as a starter at Swedish dinner parties. It was created by the popular Swedish restaurateur Tore Wretman who embraced Swedish culinary traditions during the decades immediately after World War II. At a time when home cooking was starting to fade away and be replaced by foreign fast food, he also elevated classic Swedish dishes into fancy restaurant repertoire, lending them new status.

I was playing around in the kitchen the other day experimenting with a gluten free pizza base made of cauliflower in my Thermomix and found various recipes online. Most of them used steamed/cooked cauliflower but I made a modified version using raw cauliflower.

So I decided to give myself a gift for my birthday and bought a Thermomix. Been trying out a few different recipes lately and this morning I made ‘Risgrynsgröt’ or Rice Pudding as it’s called in English. Risgrynsgröt is a traditional Swedish breakfast porridge – served especially at Christmas but also throughout the year.
